CoViD19 treatment through essential oils (EOs)
novel corona virus disease treatment ( CoViD19) treatment can be done by using antiviral essential oils for treating influenza.
Many essential oils (EOs) can be used as a remedy for anti-influenza virus.According to research paper published in "American Journal of Essential Oils and Natural Products" .Out of ten essential oil four of them resulted in an anti-influenza effect even at low quantity. Some showed better results in liquid phase and also can be more effective if these oils will be taken in vaporized form.{Refer(1)}
The Essential oil details are as follows.
- Cinnamomum zeylanicum:
Origin: Sri Lanka
Oil extracted from:
Cinnamon leaves
Main component: Eugenol.
Packed/marketed: Aura Cacia
Result: showed a positive response against the influenza virus at low quantity/concentration but in the liquid phase.
- Eugenol: which is the main constituent of Cinnamomum zeylanicum showed for above98% plaque reduction of influenza about 10 minutes of duration when taken in vaporized form. {Refer (2)}
- Citrus bergamia:
Origin: Italy
Oil extracted from peel of Bergamot fruit
Main component: negative linalyl acetate, positive-limonene, negative-linalool, gamma terpinene, alpha(α) terpinene, alpha (α)pinene and (β)beta-pinene.
Packed/marketed: Aura Cacia
Result: showed its effect at low quantity/concentration in its vapor phase against the influenza virus about 10minute exposure. {Refer (3,4)}
-Thymus vulgaris:
Origin: Spain
Oil extracted from Red Thyme lie above-ground plant parts which is not completely dried
Main component: 1,8-cineole Terpenyl acetate Borneol
Packed/marketed: Aura Cacia
Result: The liquid phase with low concentration resulted in the antiviral activity. {Refer (5)}
- Eucalyptus globulus (family of Myrtaceae):
Origin: South Africa
Oil Extracted from Eucalyptus Leaves and twigs(Julia lawless)
Main component: 1,8- Cineole, α-Pinene
Packed/marketed: Aqua Oleum
Result:showed effective result against influenza virus only in 10 minutes. {Refer (6)}
- The Citronellol (family of Geraniaceae):
Origin: China
Oil Extracted from : leaves and flowering branchlets of Geranium
Packed/marketed: Aura Cacia
Result: The antiviral activity for maximum plaque reduction of influenza about 10 minutes when vaporized. {Refer (7,8)}
