Biological terms

Biological Terms or definitions that you may discuss in corona pandemic

Cells:
These are basic biological build blocks.

Bacteria
It is a singular complex cell with no host required for its survival.
Antibiotic:
Antibiotics damage bacteria so the body’s immune system can fight them. They do not work against viruses.
Viruses
they are not cells and smaller in size .viruses multiply themselves and infecting host’s healthy cells after entering into them.
Antibodies

Antibodies perform:
  • neutralization i.e they are secreted into mucosa and blood after binding with foreign substances to stop their function or make them inactive.
  • opsonization i.e facilitation to phagocytosis of incoming substances by phagocytic cells.
  • destruction i.e to destroy bacterial cells.
Novel
The word novel means "new".The word novel with corona related to its novelty in corona virus as this virus is different than the previous one.

Fomite

The materials or objects which are carriers for infections and causes the spreading of such infection i.e utensils, clothes, etc.

Social distancing in corona virus:
According to world health organization(WHO), the social distancing in corona is about 3 feet to avoid the transmission of virus while some other person who may be infected specifically when he/she is coughing or sneezing.

Symptomatic of corona:

pandemic: It is more than an epidemic, it is considered as a global spread. On 11th of March 2020, WHO declared novel corona CVID-19 as a pandemic.

Disease cluster
A disease cluster is a health-related spreading that lies in the same region in the same period of time.so corona virus is fulfilling this condition.

N95 Respirators(surgical masks)

such masks used for protection of airborne particles, flammability, bio-compatibility and from liquid contaminating the face.Worker related to the construction field also uses such a mask for the presentation of dust and small particles. The respirator is also coated with the ability of killing or reduction of microorganisms.

N95 Respirators(surgical masks) Regulated by:
National Personal Protective Technology Laboratory (NPPTL) of Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Remember: According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) it is not only the solution for prevention from respiratory diseases.
